While there were many outstanding performances, Donovan Ford's achievement stands out. Donovan shattered his own meet PR by 11 kilos and followed up his recent PWA record shattering performance with a 1st place 320 total (140, 180), out pacing the 2nd place competitor by 44kilos. Donovan all but assured his position on this year's Jr. World team.
Sae Vang had another great performance, taking home 2nd place with a PR 184 total. Sae turns 17 this year and has 3 more Junior competitions in front of him. This performance puts him very close to making the Jr. World Team. Another HF School-Age competitor, Chris Tiongson captured 3rd place in the 56kg, totaling 172.
In the 69kg weight class JC Tiongson continues his long string of top-3 finishes with a second place finish, 217 total. JC has been dealing with a shoulder injury and 2nd place in this National Championship reflects a very gutsy performance.
HF was well represented in the 85kg class with Keylin Mackey making a bid for the Jr. World Team. Keylin finished with a 261 total and 2nd place. Ian Wilson, lifting as a 16 year old, solidified his position on the US team for this years Youth World's in Thailand. Ian finished 3rd with a 260.
On the women's side, Jenny Lam and Chioma Amaechi pulled out remarkable 3rd place finishes given this was their first National Competition. Chioma had to make some pressure lifts to beat out her teammate and rival Sydney Munsey for the 3rd place title. It made for some exiting competition.
